IT’S COMING! The last book in the Spiral Defenders series by Erin Danzer is FINALLY coming! I have been so honored and privileged to be with her on her journey as not only a friend, but also her cover designer. Today I get to help her show off the last cover, the blurb, and a little bit of a teaser from the story itself. Are you ready?
Just what’s going on? Well, according to the blurb:
Everything seems perfect now that Ronnie is married. She can be crowned and finally defeat the evil that infests the Spiral.
Until Rick and the Irradians seize the castle.
Now, Ronnie and Gavin are in hiding. They must amass an army from those still loyal to them and protect their friends and family—all without leaving their refuge. When Ronnie ventures out, Gavin is captured. Their bond is severed. All Ronnie knows is that Gavin is still in her heart.
Until that breaks, too.
Ronnie must find the strength to ascend to her destiny and defeat Rick or risk losing everything forever.
Huh-oh. It’s about to go down in the Spiral, so let’s have some levity instead. Ever worn a cupcake? Ronnie has!
“So what does a girl wear on the day she becomes a queen?”
The answer to Ronnie’s question came in the form of a big, beautiful dark purple ball gown. Silver stars and triple spirals were embroidered on the strapless bodice, which also tied up the back. The full skirt was made up of four layers of tulle and with a satin overlay, also embroidered with the stars and spirals. Ronnie couldn’t see her feet and could barely sit down once the girls got her into the dress. Gem and Osirah did her hair while Thea fanned her so she wouldn’t overheat. The dress weighed a ton and Ronnie couldn’t help wondering whose idea it was she should wear it. She needed two people to stand, each grabbing an arm. She asked Amber to strap on her ankle holster for her sword hilt, but she had no idea how she would find it under all the material. She couldn’t wait to get out of this thing!
Two hours after the girls came into the room, they escorted her out and down the stairs to the throne room. Ronnie cursed the dress the entire, slow walk down the stairs, afraid she would slip and fall. Finally, they reached their destination. Ronnie stopped just outside the double doors and glared at both tapestries of her brothers. If either of them were still alive, she could guarantee she wouldn’t be in this ridiculous dress.
“Who are these people?” Andi asked from somewhere behind her. Ronnie couldn’t turn to see where she was.
“They’re my brothers, both born and dead before I came along,” Ronnie told her. “Aidan died here in the Spiral Cira. Garrick left this Spiral to answer a distress call in another Spiral two years later and never returned home. He is believed to have died because of the chaotic circumstances he went into.”
“You almost sound like you don’t believe he’s really dead.”
Ronnie shrugged. “It doesn’t really matter, does it? Neither one is here now to be coronated.”
“No, I guess not.” Andi laid her hand on Ronnie’s bare shoulder and gently squeezed. Ronnie turned her head to offer a smile.
“Ladies. Princess,” Gavin greeted them as he approached. Ronnie gritted her teeth at his thoughts.
“I heard that,” she growled. “I do not look like a cupcake.”
