Two weeks ago or so, I got to have the best time of my life as a photographer (thus far).
Yes, that would be me in the foreground on a pair of roller blades while preparing to take a photo of two dozen Disney characters, also mostly on roller skates/blades.
Now added to resume: photography ON WHEELS.
Here’s the photo that I took after we were all in place.
See Vanellope there in the middle near Belle? That’s Lily, and this was the non-kid part of her seventh birthday. Her mother, Belle, is the force behind Monarch Creations, the costuming goddess that I work with on 90% of my fantasy shoots. She made every single costume you see except for Pocahontas and Amelia–just for Lily’s birthday!
Best Mom ever? If she’s not, I want to see the proof.
Basically, you had a whole bunch of actors dressed as their favorite character while a dozen kids of the seven-ish and below age bracket skated/ran around and had a blast. I was on roller blades as well, allowing me to capture the actors in motion. This one was taken while both Frozone and I were going at 10MPH.
It was, without a doubt, some of the most fun I’ve had in a LONG time, and it has turned into more. Monarch Creations needs photos of the costumes, the actors want photos for their portfolios, and I love me some cosplay, so, COSPLAY DISNEY SHOOTS are a go! Over the next few weeks, I will be doing shoots with damn near everyone up there in that big group. I finished one this past weekend of the wonderfully sultry and talented Esmeralda (aka Megan O’Laughlin). I’m pretty sure it’s blasphemous to have a gypsy posing seductively outside a church on the day before Easter, but oh well.
Happy photographer is happy. Alice and the Mad Hatter are tentative soon (I have a giant mirror for the shoot), and also Elsa. I’ve also got a personal shoot tentatively lined up for May 1st. It involves dancing shoes, a night club, and magic. Hmmm . . . I wonder what I’ll be doing . . .
Comments always welcome, but, remember that I smite trolls handily.
