The higher parts of the mountains blew with bitter wind that chilled to the bone. Yet the chill The Girl felt was also inside her soul. Something . . . bad loomed ahead. She found it shortly when a blizzard came from nowhere. The Sylph lunged toward her with icy hands and frozen breath. “Your journey ends here!” As if to refute her words, bright sunlight poured in and banished the blizzard and sent the Sylph running as she had been burned. The beautiful sunlight came from a higher cliff, and The Girl felt . . . safe, as if the Magic World itself had suddenly protected her.
Suzanne Gonzales blew me away when we did this shoot! She got everything that I wanted, and then some! Also, she felt absolutely no embarrassment to be wearing a rather elaborate dress in the middle of Boa Vista in Apple Hill and coming at the camera as if to attack it/me. It was a lot of fun, and she truly brought a great menace to the evil Sylph.
This shoot was done at the same time as The Hiker, so Bernadette happened to have her camera and snagged a great shot of me at work with Suzanne. It’ll give you an idea of the work that goes into many of these images because what you see here isn’t what we saw on site!
Obviously, this was pre-unicorn hair. Hehe. Next week brings the final image of Part 1, and I’ll talk more about the project’s past and future alike.
